Summer Skin Care Tips For Oily Skin

Summer Skin Care for Oily Skin

We know our summers can be a bit hit or miss on the weather front.  But we have had a few hot days so far and if you’re heading off to sunnier climes you might need to have a little rethink on your skincare routine.

Oily skin can be unpredictable during  the summer time. The heat can cause the sebaceous glands in the skin to produce more sebum. Even though sebum helps protect your skin, too much sebum can cause acne, clogged pores, and shine. Fortunately, there are ways you can resolve these problems with the right products and techniques.

1. Always Use A Moisturiser

Choose a moisturizer that is for oily skin.  We recommend you look for gel and water-based moisturizers, such as Dr Hauschka Melissa Day Cream £26 which will help balance excessive oiliness. Also, look for moisturizers labeled non-comedogenic.  These won’t clog your pores and cause blemishes.

2. Be Gentle

When we first get oily skin one of the first things we tend to do is over treat our skin too aggressively.  Be gentle, avoid products that contain alcohol and sulfates as these can irritate your skin and make it produce more oil. Choose for sulfate-free gentle foam, gel, and clay cleansers, like This Works Clean Skin 5-in-1 Water £21, it gently cleanses, balances, brightens, refreshes an removes all traces of makeup leaving your skin purified and radiant.

3. Summer makeup

Selecting the right type of makeup is essential on two counts, one – keeping skin and pores healthy, two – staying power keeping it in place an preventing it from sliding off.  We are huge fans of Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup, the entire range is non-irritating and does not block pores.  Brides love mineral makeup as it looks better the longer it stays on your skin.
